Fast Track and Fast Recovery in Orthopaedics. How it works?
In the autumn, specialists from all over the country gathered in Vilnius for the 15th Lithuanian Congress of Orthopedics and Traumatology, which took place on September 10-11. We are glad to have the opportunity to communicate live with the specialists of our country, to get acquainted with patient-specific implants and surgical guides, as well as the pre-surgical planning program MICE (Medical Implants Customizations Engine).
The main topic of this year’s congress was about fast track and recovery programs in orthopaedics, and Lithuanian orthopedists and traumatologists and invited speakers shared their experiences, insights and future trends.
Pediatrician, orthopaedic-traumatologist prof. Emilis Čekanauskas presented the results of virtual planning and application of patient-specific surgical instruments (guides) in clinical practice. The report presents two clinical cases in which patient-specific surgical guides designed and manufactured by Ortho Baltic were used to excise patients’ tumors. The report provides a brief overview of the pre-surgical planning of each case and the challenges faced. Professor E. Čekanauskas accent the benefits of pre-surgical planning and surgical instruments (guides) when it is necessary to ensure precision, shorter operation time, therefore there is a lower risk of complications and patients are less traumatized. During the presentation, the participating listeners had the opportunity to get a closer look at the anatomical models and surgical guides of clinical cases, as well as other exclusive patient-specific solutions by visiting the Ortho Baltic stand.
